Engine Specifications – 2000 Nord Rebuild

The engine to be supplied is a fully rebuilt 2000cc Alfa Romeo “Nord” twin-cam inline-four, built to high-performance standards. The goal is to provide a strong, responsive and durable unit, suitable for spirited road use and occasional track driving, while retaining reliability and drivability.

Key technical features:

  • Bore increased to 85 mm, resulting in a displacement slightly above 2000 cc compared to the original 1962 cc.

  • Forged high-performance pistons, designed for maximum strength and thermal resistance under demanding conditions.

  • H-beam forged connecting rods with ARP bolts, ensuring maximum reliability and strength at high RPM.

  • Oversized valves: 46 mm intake / 40 mm exhaust, with optimized valve seat angles for efficient gas flow and improved combustion.

  • Cylinder head fully ported and flow-optimized, improving intake and exhaust efficiency.

  • Custom billet camshafts, machined from solid stock (not regrinds), offering improved performance and reduced weight.

  • High-performance valve springs capable of withstanding higher RPM and increased loads.

  • High-performance cam followers

  • High-performance oil pump, delivering increased flow and pressure stability to guarantee consistent lubrication under sustained high-RPM operation.

  • New valve guides and seats, guaranteeing long-term durability and sealing quality.

  • Crankshaft lightened and dynamically balanced, paired with a reduced-weight front pulley to minimize rotating mass.

  • Lightweight flywheel (final weight approx. 4.5 kg, ~4 kg lighter than stock), improving throttle response and engine pickup.

  • Dual Weber 45 DCOE carburetors, tuned for optimal airflow and precise fuel delivery, ensuring strong midrange torque and peak performance at high RPM.

  • Digital electronic distributor, providing precise ignition timing, improved spark stability, and reduced maintenance compared to conventional systems.

This rebuilt Nord engine combines the character of the original design with carefully selected modern components, ensuring excellent performance, smooth idle (approx. 900 rpm), and strong reliability both on the road and in more demanding use.
